Hovea Coat

Fully quilted improv patchwork coat.
I finally used the Hovea pattern that's been staring at me for the last year. I also wanted to use up all the Japanese cotton prints that I have collected through the years. The back has a diamond shape patchwork. Front panels and sleeves have been made from different combinations of shapes.

All panels are backed with a lining, then quilted. Pockets were added on top, they are lovely roomy panels edged in bias tape. I covered all seams with this bias tape so technically this coat could also be made reversible. Collar is kimono style, long strip that I may extend all the way down the front when I get some more fabric.
I did adjust the sleeves on this pattern, they are less deep cut and narrower. Shoulder seams are shorter too. I may use the original shape next time for a lighter version.
