I rarely get angry, but occasionally my limits are tested. This quilt/wall hanging began as a way to use the numerous cotton print scraps in my collection. These were leftover pieces from various multipacks of pre-cut squares, which would take forever to use otherwise. I cut them into 3.5" squares, arranged them in a random pattern, and sewed them together. It looked nice but lacked purpose or meaning. On The Nook (a quilting community run by the FAAABulous Zak Foster), we have a #WIP section where we post new and old projects to stay accountable, seek help, or share the process.

Two things occurred. One kind Nook member suggested I make a protest quilt (mentioning @jenniebee on IG or even Tracy Emin). That same day, I had an encounter with someone who left me feeling sad, mad, and so angry I could scream. I looked at the quilt and realized it was the perfect outlet for my anger. Two days later, a quote that encapsulated my feelings was cut out, ironed on, topstitched, and made into a banner. I released all the negativity from my body and soul by sewing and quilting.

So here it is, the finished piece that will always remind me of the cathartic experience I had while sewing.
